BACKGROUND
Linnea Aarflot was born in Sweden and grew up in a family with great love for nature and creativity. Her connection with horses has always been profound and since the age of four her parents found her locked on to horses over anything else. Since then, Linnea has travelled the world for her work. Training and teaching all levels, from wild horses to Grand Prix. During her teenage years she worked for two Grand Prix Riders’s at home in Sweden, then two Olympic dressage riders, in Florida, New York and later in England. She’s worked with wild horses in US, with military horses in Sweden, with NYDP’s horses in New York, but it was when she found Piaffe Performance (NY and FL, US) she found her mission. To bring her soft approach to the top of the sport.
During her time at PP she had a string of absolute top quality dressage horses, active up to the World Cup, and started her ‘Equestrian Retreats’ where she used Yoga and Meditation to advance the rider’s self awareness. This was back then, 15 years ago, seen as incredibly out of the box, or ‘hippie’, and although she had to leave several Grand Prix horses behind her as an employed rider, she knew she had to embark on her own journey in the sport of dressage with the lightness she found by developing herself first.
So in 2015 she started her own stables and developed ‘The Equestrian Retreat’ into a clinic concept that took off internationally. She quickly met her most recent trainer, the Danish Team Rider Sune Hansen at Springhill Dressage, and moved her business in under their wings and the state of the art facilities Springhill Dressage provided. Over the years Linnea has worked with hundreds of horses and owners, and refined her system of training into a clear structure for both horse and rider’s wellbeing. And although yoga and meditation are still tools in her toolbox, her program is now backed by studies with Gabor Mate, modern psychology, neuroscience and epigenetics, using a clear structure and simple tools to ensure performance results with zero compromise on neither the horse or the rider.
After more than seven years at Springhill Dressage, Linnea recently got back to run her own stables again, focusing on holistically developing the rider as well as the horse. She’s still teaching her training concept internationally, as well as at the Equestrian University Hartpury, and is currently recording her program ‘MIND BODY DRESSAGE’ to be available online 2024.
‘I have been teaching horses and riders over 20 years, at all levels and all over the world, and I can not overlook how connected the horse's progression is to our own. The horse doesn’t make mistakes, it mirrors us in perfection, and our own development and capacity is therefor a crucial part of my training system.’
